Our Spotlight Listings Where Black Excellence is Easy to Find
Streamline Your Business
We’re more than a directory — we’re a movement. While platforms like Angie’s List offer convenience, we offer connection. We don’t just list businesses — we spotlight them, support them, and push them forward with real engagement strategies, targeted outreach, and social media exposure. We’re in it with you.
How It Works?

How Do We Compare? Black Business Lists vs. Angi & Yelp
We designed a platform exclusively for minority-owned businesses, offering transparent pricing, genuine support, and cost-effective features. Here’s how we compare with the big platforms.
Angi (formerly Angie’s List) is a longstanding directory primarily focused on home service professionals like plumbers, electricians, and contractors. It functions more as a lead generation platform where customers submit requests and businesses respond with quotes. While it offers a verified review system and access to targeted customers, it lacks organic search visibility and often requires a paid subscription to receive leads. Businesses pay to be featured, and pricing varies significantly based on industry and location.
Yelp, on the other hand, is one of the most widely recognized review platforms for local businesses across all industries—restaurants, salons, mechanics, and more. Yelp pages often rank well in Google search results, giving businesses strong SEO benefits. However, Yelp’s advertising model is based on pay-per-click, which can be unpredictable and expensive. Many small businesses struggle with Yelp’s filtered review system and limited control over their profiles unless they pay for enhancements.
Black Business Lists (BBL) was created to directly serve Black and Minority-owned businesses by increasing visibility, improving access to customers, and fostering community-driven support. Unlike Angi or Yelp, BBL doesn’t rely on an expensive pay-per-click model or require businesses to bid for attention. Instead, it offers transparent, flat-rate monthly packages that include SEO-optimized listings, social media promotion, and optional booking features for service-based professionals. BBL also serves a conscious consumer audience—those who intentionally seek out and support Black and Minority-owned businesses. With affordable pricing, built-in marketing features, and culturally aligned support, Black Business Lists offers a powerful and authentic alternative to traditional directories.
